And while a professional boudoir photography session just can’t be beat, there are times when a quick boudoir selfie can come in quite handy. Tips for rocking your own boudoir photography selfie:

When you wake up, before you get out of bed and grab your brush and your makeup. That raw beauty few get to see. Who you are just as you are, beautiful, sexy, silly, cute, and confident. Show us YOU. In your own natural beauty. I'd done a photoshoot with Ben before where I was all made up, so this opportunity seemed perfect to capture a different side of myself. It really felt fantastic. And the photos themselves feel more intimate and special. That this is how my husband sees me. He doesn't see the things I consider imperfections, he just sees me. My personality and charm came out better for these photos that the ones with makeup and outfits. At first I was worried about not being 'all dolled up,' but to be able to actually see myself in a different light was refreshing! It was totally empowering, I loved feeling comfortable in my own skin, it's rare to find when you work a full time job and have 5 kids. I know I'm a 'real' person and this just showed another side to the real me. I felt this was the best version of me. I just had to be a part of this one. I'll admit, it was little intimidating to go without makeup, but it was also very freeing and extremely empowering to do so. Having my raw beauty captured made me feel absolutely amazing. I felt sexy, playful, beautiful and sensual. At first I was nervous about being completely natural. However, I was oddly enough very comfortable with no makeup on and my hair a mess. I was in amazement.
However, I learned to see the beauty in myself doing this — from my crooked teeth, to the dreadful wrinkles, to my freckles that I have always hated. I had sheer curtains over my windows which helped to soften the light and afford me some privacy. Make sure that whatever part of your body you want lit is facing toward the light. For example, if you want your face lit evenly, then have your face turned completely toward the light. If you only want half of it lit, then turn sideways to the light. It will offer you a preset style or you can go into the Tools to really personalize it by adjusting the basic settings like Brightness and Sharpness, or apply any variety of filters the app offers. The only downside to the app is that color adjustments outside of the filters and white balance are not available. Editing your images can help you forget that your front camera image is of lower quality. But be careful not to overdo it. Too much editing can distract from the subject you. There you have it!
